Train from Hanoi to Da Nang

Tips travel around Da Nang

An importance note for your travelling from Hanoi to Da Nang in the summer (from June to August) is that time of peak season for domestic travelers so train and plane tickets are very busy and expensive (especially on the weekend from Thursday to Sunday). If you plan to travel at this time, you should book the service as soon as possible to avoid being fully book and expensive prices.

By train

There are totally 5 daily trains from Hanoi to Da Nang, in which, 02 trips are popular with visitors starting at 19:00 – train mark SE1 and 23:00 – SE3, remaining mostly used by local people. It takes around 15,5 hours riding from Hanoi to Da Nang, depending on type of train.

Because of none popular as train route from Hanoi to Sapa, making your choices quite be limited. There are 03 main categories for this route, hard sleeper carriage, Economy soft sleeper carriage and Tourist soft sleeper carriage.

Notes:

Tourist soft sleeper is operated by Livitrans Express with nice decoration, clean cabin and comfortable facilities.
Hard sleeper and Economy class are operated by Vietnam Railway authorization, knowing as Union Express train. The cabin is not really comfortable enough for your travelling.

By Airplane

Some years ago, there was only Vietnam Airline operating this route. Nowadays, you have more choices with three airlines flying from Hanoi to Da Nang with various prices, depending your time of reservation; earlier you book, the better price you get.

There are about 18 flights from Hanoi to Da Nang in peak domestic season (from June to August) with three airlines operating the route: Jesta Pacific, Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airline. In low season (from Sept to May), there are 10 flights with two airlines operating; Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airline.

By private car

By open bus

There are two type of buses for your choice: the local public bus is departure/arrival bus station outside cities center, suitable for local people rather than travelers and other is tourist open bus one.

We recommend open bus transfer from Hanoi to Da Nang for those wishing save expense and stopover some destination on way. You can buy open bus ticket from Hanoi to Da Nang then drop off in Ninh Binh province, Quang Binh province, Hue City then continue to Da Nang. Just remember confirm your date of next departure for driver for arranging.
