From Hanoi to Catba via Halong bay:

Tuan Chau island located 15km from the center of Ha Long city with around 20’ driving. Considering as an island but Tuan Chau is very easy to access by car as connected road. The ferry to Cat Ba Island takes around 45’ from Tuan Chau habour. On arrival Gia Luan habour in Cat Ba island, you can take shuttle bus or private car through lush park to Cat Ba town.

From Hanoi to Catba via Hai phong city

  If not planning visit Ha Long Bay, the route Hanoi to Cat Ba island through Hai Phong should be a good choice. There are some kinds of express boat, hydrofoil, ferry from Hai Phong to Cat Ba and vice verse but just few suited with traveler; Hoang Yen, Tan Hai hydrofoil and Hoang Long Express.

Hoang Yen & Tan Hai Victory are the same management that departs from Binh habour in Hai Phong to Ca habour in center of Cat Ba Town. It takes around 45’ running and you don’t need to take the shuttle bus from the habour to the town.
Hoang Long Express boat: They offer a package from Hanoi to Cat Ba island by combination shuttle bus & express boat. The transfer package included shuttle bus from Hanoi to Hai Phong City (No 4 Le Thanh Tong Street, Hai Phong City), mini bus from the office to Dinh Vu habour (about 30’ driving), express boat from Dinh Vu habour in Hai Phong to Vieng habour in Cat Ba island (about 20’ running) and shuttle bus from Vieng habour to Cat Ba town (about 30’ driving)
